First United Methodist Church Mission Trip to Peru
July 15, 2010
32 Member Mission Team from First United Methodist Church of Edmond Travel to Peru
A mission team consisting of 32 people, most of whom are from the First United Methodist Church of Edmond left Saturday, July 17th for Peru and will be returning on July 27th. The purpose of the trip is to share God’s love by the work they do.
They will serve the people of Peru by building a medical clinic and by having their medical staff see patients from the refuge camps that were displaced by the 2007 earthquake that destroyed many villages. There are still more than 10,000 people displaced by that event.
The children in the Bible School this year from First United Methodist Church of Edmond have provided a generous donation for reading glasses and they will also be dispensing them.
Jeff Baggett, DDS of Edmond donated hundreds of toothbrushes for the mission team to distribute.
Those from First United Methodist Church of Edmond are: Brad and Donna Beardmore, Dan Burdette, Janis Love, Carolyn Clark, Red Woods, Jacque, Joe and Stephanie Emperly, Sue Henley, Josh and Shannon Moore, Nancy Reynan, Karrmen Tapley, Darrel and Jonathan Stout, Beau and Vicki Toombs, Beverly, Bill and Hollie Turner and Magan Wright.
