CALIFORNIA CLOSETS
When B.J. Miller was offered early retirement during a company re-organization he jumped at it. He and wife Jerrie decided to use the opportunity to start their own business. After hearing about the success of California Closets and doing their research, they became Oklahoma’s only franchisee and opened their business in Edmond.

That was in early 2001 and since then their business has enjoyed an annual growth of approximately 30% and they have traveled across the state designing and installing custom closet systems for homeowners as well as businesses.
The Millers have completed such small jobs as condominium closets and as large as office storage systems and oversized his & her closets. This husband and wife team has grown their business by utilizing their individual strengths, keeping up with growing trends and focusing on customer satisfaction. While B.J. has the accounting and home improvement experience, Jerrie is the design expert and excels in handling clients.

Each project begins with a complimentary consultation. Then, with input from the client, Jerrie creates the project design. California Closets not only follows each project from start to finish, but the products are also manufactured at the Edmond shop/showroom.

California Closets does their own manufacturing and offers innovative and unique products with a lifetime guarantee.
“California Closets puts a great deal of emphasis on customer satisfaction,” Jerrie said. “We do what we say we’ll do and we do it on time”

Jerrie said that customers tell them they are one of the few companies they work with that “do what we say we’ll do and show up on time.” “To my knowledge we don’t have any unhappy customers,” she added.

While customer satisfaction is the priority with the Millers, offering the latest trends and quality innovations is what drives the business.

Jerrie said some of the more popular products among her clients include the Murphy bed, a chrome slide-out wine rack and hideaway full-length mirrors. Jewelry drawers, pull-out pant racks and unique office organization products also top the list of favorites among customers.

When designing an organization system, Jerrie said custom storage involves intelligent design that reflects a person’s possessions and how they like to store their items.

“Custom storage isn’t just about shelves and hanging rods. Custom closets, pantries, garages and offices are an investment in the value of your home,” Jerrie said.

She said while creating storage that meets individual needs is crucial, adjustability is also an important factor when designing a storage system. “When you sell your home, the next homeowner may have entirely different storage needs and won’t want to start over.”

Organization and closet products are available at most home-improvement stores everywhere. Even California Closets offers some pre-fabricated, less expensive products at Target. And, according to B.J., storage system companies have come and gone through the years. But for a “truly custom storage system design offering sturdier products from ¾ – 1 inch thick that offers a solid investment in your home and a lifetime of use, only a California Closets franchisee can turn the closet of your dreams into reality.” California Closets is located at 2701 Coltrane Pl.

ELITE FEET
James Drain may not be following in his father Dr. Ray Drain’s footsteps entirely, but he has combined the knowledge gained from his physician dad with his personal experience to help people deal with a plaguing health issue. As the owner of Edmond’s newest athletic shoe store, Drain helps customers with foot problems find the right shoes and products to alleviate their pain and solve their ailments.

Drain experienced his own foot challenges that began when he was eight years old. He faced various obstacles in finding shoes that would provide comfort while addressing the foot pain and challenges related to his fallen arches.
During his time in college, Drain focused many of his research papers on foot problems and how various shoes and proper fit address these health concerns. In addition, his father taught him about the anatomy of the feet and legs and he spent time working with a podiatrist to learn about various methods in solving diagnosed foot problems. He is also currently working to obtain a pedorthist license. A Pedorthist is college-trained to fit shoes and orthotics and abides by the standards of podiatrists.

Drain has spent the past several years working in the shoe business and teaching customers about proper fit and dealing with various foot ailments.

“I love finding new or extreme foot problems and helping fix them with the help of great shoes, the right fit and sometimes, additional items of support,” Drain said.

Drain put his passion and knowledge to work when he opened Elite Feet in June. The store is located in Kickingbird Square at Danforth and Bryant. According to Drain, the store carries many items not available in other shoe stores.
“We carry plantar faccilits boots, hammer toe splints, diabetic socks, medical orthotics and high-tech socks,” Drain said.

Elite Feet also sells hard-to-find widths/sizes, kid shoes with support and exercise apparel up to size 4X. In addition, Drain can custom order diabetic shoes for customers.

Some of the brands available at Elite Feet include: Adidas, Asics, Merrell, Crocs, Crocs RX, Apex, and Atrex.
Drain said that while he carries the top brands of shoes and apparel, customers get the added benefit of receiving expert advise when they visit his store. Drain trains his staff of seven personally and obtains the latest knowledge from experts and technical staff from the leaders in the industry. He said customers are already benefiting from the advise and products he offers. “Every day we hear testimonies from clients and referral of our clients on how we have done wonders for their feet,” Drain said. “I have experience in fitting thousands of clients in shoes with outstanding results and customer satisfaction.”

While Elite Feet specializes in solving foot problems and meeting the needs of customers with hard-to-fit feet, the store is also a premier source for all levels of athletes and weekend warriors in search of just the right shoe for their favorite sport. Visit Elite Feet at 1237 E. Danforth or call 844-6500 for more information.
