Edmond Dining Guide

Tropical Cafè

Whether diners prefer their lunch with the sweetness of the Maui Grilled Chicken Hot Crepes brought to life with honey mustard sauce and sweet red peppers, or dinner with the traditional Italian flavors in the Tuscany Panini with fresh pesto, or even a breakfast of French toast, you'll find a healthy and filling menu to suit any palette at Edmond’s Tropical Café.

Since opening nearly nine years ago, Tropical Café has become a lunchtime favorite for families as well as a top stop for business folks craving their top-selling Hawaiian Hot Crepe. Although they’re best known for their low fat and delicious crepes, the fruit smoothies, rich desserts and sushi are also very popular with diners.

Patrick Mok and his wife Joanne have put their heart and soul into their restaurant, growing from a small café with four tables to a booming Edmond hot spot. From day one, it’s been their goal to make Tropical Café a family-focused restaurant that serves cuisine every family can feel good about as they enjoy a meal together.

“We wanted to keep it family and keep it fresh,” Mok says. Everything is homemade here, including the teriyaki sauce in the Asian Chicken Noodle salad and the peanut sauce found in the Thai salad. “Anyone can make a sandwich. It’s the sauce that makes the difference.”

“The bottom line is when we created the menu, we really wanted to make it for families. We wanted to serve whatever we would feed our kids. Businesses come and go Ð family is most important,” he says.

Now, after enjoying a café sandwich of smoked chicken salad, or Italian meatballs, diners can even enjoy a creamy frozen yogurt concoction. In August, Tropical Cafè added live culture frozen yogurt with fun and tasty twists such as fresh fruit, cookies and other ingredients. As an extra treat, every Friday kids under 10 can enjoy yogurt for half-price from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. during Family Night.

Friday’s Family Night has become the favorite part of Mok’s week. “It’s worth a million dollars to see all the kids smile,” he says. The Moks have two children that love Friday night yogurt time as well. “There’s nothing better than to see your kids” faces all covered in chocolate.
