UCO is Tobacco Free
The policy prohibits the use of any tobacco product on campus, and also
prohibits the university from accepting any sort of sponsorship, gift
or grant from tobacco companies and university publications from
running advertisements for tobacco products.
Officials hope to create a “self-enforcing” campus culture in
implementing the policy, while continuing to offer educational and
tobacco-cessation programs to students, faculty and staff.
The decision to go tobacco-free was made in May 2009 after a vote of
the University of Central Oklahoma Student Association supported the
adaptation of the policy.
More information, including a complete copy of the policy and contact
information for tobacco-cessation program, can be found at www.ucotobaccofree.com.
