Sporting the Arts and Interactive Childcare

Images Gallery

Images Gallery: The Art of Sport intends to be a leader in the presentation of dynamic and varied sports art within the Southwest. The Gallery opened in its current location, at 1389 E. 15, Suite 124, in the winter of 2007. It is the direct result of the passion for sports, art and photography by owner, David Fisk.

“Sport art serves not only as an inspiration, but commemorates historic moments in sports,” Fisk said.

Specializing in originals, lithos, prints, giclees, photos and more, Images Gallery is a place for the unique sports gift.

“We have prints starting at five dollars, to original paintings costing $12,500. We are high end and affordable, collectible art,” Fisk said.

Featuring artists such as Steven Holland, Robert Hurst, Judy George and Suzanne DuCom, Images Gallery understands the importance of showcasing local artists. “It is important. I want to always have Oklahoma artists here, and I would always be willing to talk to Edmond sports artists.”

The Gallery seeks to encourage and support the sports art community through the presentation of new works by emerging and established artists.

Retiring in December, after 37 years of being a journalist, Fisk saw an opportunity to fill a need in Edmond. “I felt there was a need for high-end sports art. I started this business from scratch and after a recent open house, it is clear to see that the need is beginning to be fulfilled.”

With sports art ranging from football, baseball, NASCAR and golf, there is something at Images Gallery for everyone. They also specialize in art from boxing, sail boating, outdoors and much more.

So who is the possible clientele? “Anyone with wall space. There are a lot of great gifts here for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and any other holiday. I want to continue to be the art dealer that is going to have the rare pieces that you are not going to find anywhere else.”

Images Gallery will be doing commissioned art of student and youth athletes using a few selected Oklahoma artists.

My Small Wonders

From the moment you enter My Small Wonders, located at 733 Village Parkway, you will become aware that you are not in the usual childcare and development center. Owners, Nancy Epperly and her husband, Bill, planned it that way.

“We wanted a very welcoming, homey feel. Not only for the children, but for the parents as well,” Nancy said. The facility is brand new and built specifically to follow the latest guidelines from the Department of Human Services. “We want to provide an atmosphere that is going to make you feel at home, not an ‘institutional’ feeling you may get somewhere else.”

My Small Wonders is a comprehensive development center exclusively for children ages six weeks to five years. The center dedicates its efforts and resources toward ensuring top-rated care giving and a high quality, activity based learning environment tailored for children of this age range.

Another great feature to My Small Wonders is a biometric security system. This ensures the safety of your children by allowing only those with approved fingerprint identification to enter the facility. Why? “Aside from the security of entering the building, the biometric system prevents any children from wondering outside.”

The curriculum is extremely important at the development center. My Small Wonders uses the award winning High Reach in each class. The curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through hands-on activities. High Reach has a wide range of materials which focus on literacy, character education, language development, math, science, and more. The High Reach philosophy is that learning begins at birth, and My Small Wonders broadens on this belief.

In addition to these great features, My Small Wonders has adopted Dr. Karp’s belief. He is the author of the book, The Happiest Baby on the Block. “His beliefs are that there is a calming reflex in newborns if the five S’s are preformed. These are swaddling, swinging, shushing, side/stomach and sucking. This is amazing on how relaxed this will make the newborn,” she said.

With all of these great characteristics, it is easy to see why choosing My Small Wonders makes sense. “In addition, we have well qualified teachers. We encourage our teachers to continue their education. Over 70 percent of our teachers have obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher.”
