New York Philharmonic: A Fantastique Introduction

The first public performance will include Hector Berlioz’s dream-like work Symphonie fantastique. Additionally, the Philharmonic will perform Jean Sibelius’ abstract Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 47, featuring the super-virtuoso playing of soloist Frank Huang, concertmaster.

Champions of Health Nominations

The Champions of Health awards recognize those who make a difference in the health of Oklahomans. Winners in select categories will receive $5,000 for their organization or program, and will be considered for the highest honor, the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award, along with a $15,000 contribution. Winners will be announced at the 2019 Champions of Health Gala on September 26 at Cox Business Center in Tulsa. The nomination period begins Wednesday, April 24, and all nominations must be submitted by Friday, May 24. There is no cost to enter. Visit championsofhealth.org to learn more.

Route 66 Oklahoma Corvette RoundUp

2019 ROUTE 66 OKLAHOMA CORVETTE ROUND UP Central Oklahoma Corvette Club is now accepting registrations for the 2019 Route 66 Oklahoma Corvette Round Up. The car show will be Saturday, June 1, in Hafer Park, located at South Bryant Avenue and East Ninth Street in Edmond, OK. The schedule Saturday begins at 8:00 AM until 10 AM for registration and check-in. All cars need to be in place at 10:00 AM. Judging will begin at 10:30 AM and Awards Presentation will start at 2:00 PM. During this time, 10 AM to 2 PM, everyone is welcome to come out and look at all the Corvettes. There is no charge to look around at the cars and plenty of shade trees and a playground. There will also be a Silent Auction, Food and Product Vendors, Door Prizes and a 50/50 Pot. For those entering their Corvette, there will be over 20 classes with multiple award in each class plus other various awards. Friday, May 31, we will be a fun-packed day with a cruise and lunch starting at 9:15, and a dinner and reception in the evening. This conference is designed with single moms in mind and addresses the unique challenges they face in their relationships
and while raising their families. Thrive Gathering includes three keynote sessions which will feature the following women
and leaders: Pam Kanaly, co-founder of Arise Ministries; Kim Heinecke, writer and speaker for Arise Ministries; Shelley
Pulliam, Executive Director of Arise Ministries; Alice Richardson, Pastor of Prospect Church; and Lina Abujamra,
founder of Living with Power Ministries.

Additional breakout sessions will feature women from a variety of professional and personal backgrounds including Lisa
Leininger, Stacey Johnson, Melissa Hiett, Janelle Reed, Christy Johnson, Tia Murry, Amber Given, and Beth Brown.
Their topics vary to include everything from dating as a single mom to raising your children to dealing with rejection and
betrayal. Other breakout sessions will include topics such as finance and self-defense taught by Gary Olson and Jason
Scarbrough. The conference will include opportunities to connect with other single moms, enjoy encouraging messages
and inspirational worship, and enter to win giveaways.

Featuring more than seventy works by French and European masters such as Degas, Manet, Monet, Rousseau and Van Gogh, this exhibition celebrates Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon’s extraordinary gift of nineteenth and early twentieth-century French art to the VMFA. After first becoming interested in British sporting art, Paul Mellon began to collect nineteenth-century French art in the 1940s with his second wife, Rachel Lambert Mellon. While their collection largely consists of Impressionist paintings, it also includes masterpieces from every important school of French art—from Romanticism and the Barbizon School through Cubism and the School of Paris. Taken together, these works exemplify the Mellons’ personal vision and highly original collecting strategies, which provide a context for understanding this unique collection.

Dunkin’ of Oklahoma City Hosts Month-Long Fundraiser to Benefit March of Dimes

Dunkin’ today announced the launch of its month-long fundraiser in Oklahoma City to benefit March of Dimes. Beginning today, July 1, and running through the end of the month, 10-cents from every box of dozen donuts sold at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Oklahoma City will be donated to March of Dimes. The funds raised will directly support March of Dimes’ mission to end prematurity, address the growing crisis of premature birth in the US, and help families have full-term, healthy babies. Throughout the month, Dunkin’ will also offer guests a special March of Dimes-inspired donut; a classic donut frosted with purple and white icing to honor the March of Dimes colors. The limited-edition donut will be available at participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Oklahoma City through July 31. Additionally, participating Dunkin’ restaurants in Oklahoma City will be collecting donations for March of Dimes throughout the month.

80's Benefit Concert

NEWS RELEASE 80’z ENUF to Headline Benefit Concert to Raise Money for Asthma Education in Oklahoma Oklahoma City, OK – The Brendon McLarty Memorial Foundation is hosting a benefit concert, featuring local band 80’z ENUF, on August 9, 2019 to raise funds for asthma awareness in the state of Oklahoma. Sixteen-year-old Brendon tragically died in 2012 following an asthma attack the last day of his sophomore year. Brendon was diagnosed with asthma from an early age, but it had never limited his activity until that day. Asthma is a lung disease currently affecting 7 million children and 16 million adults in America. There is no cure for asthma, but it can be managed with proper prevention and treatment. The concert, sponsored by Collision Works, will be held at Tower Theatre located at 425 Northwest 23rd Street in Oklahoma City on August 9, 2019. Doors open at 7 p.m., music from 8 p.m. - 11 p.m. There will be a cash bar available for those 21 years of age or older. There will be fabulous auction/raffle items available.
