New York Philharmonic: A Fantastique Introduction

The first public performance will include Hector Berlioz’s dream-like work Symphonie fantastique. Additionally, the Philharmonic will perform Jean Sibelius’ abstract Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 47, featuring the super-virtuoso playing of soloist Frank Huang, concertmaster.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma -- March 6, 2019 -- Crossings Community Church is preparing to perform Saviour: A Modern Oratorio on April 13 and 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Crossings OKC Sanctuary (14600 North Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134).

Saviour is a pop-classical oratorio which takes audiences of all ages from creation through the resurrection of Christ and is a picture of God pursuing his people. Its powerful music will showcase the Voices of Crossings choir and orchestra. The incredible voices of esteemed musical artist and Crossings member, Sandi Patty, and contemporary-classical vocal group, Veritas, will also be highlighted in the performances. Saviour also uniquely features dance offerings from Ad Deum Dance Company of Houston, Texas and Arrows International of Oklahoma.

“Everyone is invited to experience Saviour,” said Pastor of Worship Ministries, Larry Harrison. “This story of God’s love from Genesis to Revelation will captivate you, inspire you, and tell the story of the Bible in a creative, fresh, and inspiring way.”

Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. and the identical performances will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14. Saviour performances are free, but tickets are required for entry. Tickets, answers to frequently asked questions, and other details about the performances are available at crossings.church/saviour.

In anticipation of the 2019 grand opening of The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts, New York Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin will join the Oklahoma State University Wind Ensemble for an April 18 performance at the Seretean Center on the Stillwater campus. Martin, whose distinctive career spans over 20 years and includes performances with many of America’s finest orchestras, will also lead a masterclass for OSU trumpet students.

Champions of Health Nominations

The Champions of Health awards recognize those who make a difference in the health of Oklahomans. Winners in select categories will receive $5,000 for their organization or program, and will be considered for the highest honor, the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health award, along with a $15,000 contribution. Winners will be announced at the 2019 Champions of Health Gala on September 26 at Cox Business Center in Tulsa. RexFest

Route 66 Oklahoma Corvette RoundUp

2019 ROUTE 66 OKLAHOMA CORVETTE ROUND UP Central Oklahoma Corvette Club is now accepting registrations for the 2019 Route 66 Oklahoma Corvette Round Up. The car show will be Saturday, June 1, in Hafer Park, located at South Bryant Avenue and East Ninth Street in Edmond, OK. The schedule Saturday begins at 8:00 AM until 10 AM for registration and check-in. All cars need to be in place at 10:00 AM. Judging will begin at 10:30 AM and Awards Presentation will start at 2:00 PM. During this time, 10 AM to 2 PM, everyone is welcome to come out and look at all the Corvettes. There is no charge to look around at the cars and plenty of shade trees and a playground. There will also be a Silent Auction, Food and Product Vendors, Door Prizes and a 50/50 Pot. For those entering their Corvette, there will be over 20 classes with multiple award in each class plus other various awards. Friday, May 31, we will be a fun-packed day with a cruise and lunch starting at 9:15, and a dinner and reception in the evening.
