New York Philharmonic: A Fantastique Introduction

Oklahoma Flute Fair

The Oklahoma Flute Society is proud to present the 25th Annual Flute Fair on March 9 & 10, 2019 at the University of Oklahoma Catlett Music Center, with guest artist Keith Underwood. Join us for a weekend of events including classes, concerts, workshops, and exhibits from leading flute professionals and businesses. This year's Fair also includes our annual Solo & Ensemble Festival for middle and high school students as well as performances by the Honor Flute Choirs. Admission to the Fair is free to all Oklahoma Flute Society members. To become a member or to find out more about the Flute Fair, visit: www.oklahomaflutesociety.org Events will start at 8am on Saturday and conclude after the Honors Recital at 4:30pm on Sunday. The guest artist recital will be held at noon on Saturday in Pitman Recital Hall. This concert along with the Gala Recital and the Honors Recital will be free and open to the public. Exhibitors will be open on Saturday 9am-5pm and on Sunday 9am-3pm. This event is funded in part by the generous support of the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. Underwood serves on the faculties of Mannes School of Music, New York University and Queens College. Each year he travels internationally to Japan, Mexico, Italy, Brazil and London to teach workshops and perform. Underwood’s students hold positions with America’s major orchestras including the the Boston Symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, to name just a few. Globally, his students are members of orchestras in Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. Students from all over the world travel to Keith’s studio on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for lessons, especially when an important audition is pending. As a performer, Underwood has appeared with New York’s most prominent musical organizations including the New York Philharmonic, New York Chamber Symphony, the Orpheus Ensemble, the Orchestra of St. Luke's. He is solo flutist with the Parnassus and Musical Elements, Jazz Antiqu, the Arcadia Baroque Ensemble, Ufonia and the Riverside Symphony. Underwood has recorded with such diverse artists as Benjamin Verdery, Celine Dion, Kathleen Battle, Rod Stewart, Bobby McFerrin, and Anthony Newman. He appears frequently on the David Letterman Show. About the Oklahoma Flute Society The Oklahoma Flute Society was created to benefit anyone who loves the flute, and offers learning and performance opportunities for students, teachers, and professional players. Founded in 1994, OFS is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting flute study and performance in Oklahoma while also encouraging camaraderie among flutists and the highest standards of pedagogy and performance. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma -- March 6, 2019 -- Crossings Community Church is preparing to perform Saviour: A Modern Oratorio on April 13 and 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Crossings OKC Sanctuary (14600 North Portland Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK 73134).

Saviour is a pop-classical oratorio which takes audiences of all ages from creation through the resurrection of Christ and is a picture of God pursuing his people. Its powerful music will showcase the Voices of Crossings choir and orchestra. The incredible voices of esteemed musical artist and Crossings member, Sandi Patty, and contemporary-classical vocal group, Veritas, will also be highlighted in the performances. Saviour also uniquely features dance offerings from Ad Deum Dance Company of Houston, Texas and Arrows International of Oklahoma.

“Everyone is invited to experience Saviour,” said Pastor of Worship Ministries, Larry Harrison. “This story of God’s love from Genesis to Revelation will captivate you, inspire you, and tell the story of the Bible in a creative, fresh, and inspiring way.”

Doors will open to the public at 5:30 p.m. and the identical performances will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14.
