Lil Dudes and Divas
In Edmond’s Spring Creek shopping center, children’s clothes take a unique and trendy turn at a snug little boutique owned by entrepreneur Kassi Berry. Located at 1448 S. Bryant, Berry founded Lil Dudes and Divas in 2006 “to provide the most adorable and unique products available for both baby and child.”
Lil Dudes and Divas, which Berry describes as “whimsical and hip,” features a variety of everyday children’s clothes, shoes and accessories. Berry strives to keep her merchandise as high-quality, fun and unique as possible, and, most importantly, “just downright cute.”
The biggest criteria Berry sticks to in her quest for uniquely fun children’s clothes is that she has to like them. “If I don’t like the clothes,” she says, “I won’t be able to sell them.”
Berry’s high standards set her boutique apart from her competitors. “At Lil Dudes and Divas, we strive to offer our customers products that are very unique,” she says. “We want our store to be trendy and not have the same thing the store down the road has.”
Berry opened her boutique after years of frustration with her failure to find children’s clothing for family members and friends expecting children. Continually coming up short in the search for trendy and just plain adorable children’s clothing, she saw an opening in the market—and opened her own store.
Lil Dudes and Divas has since become a family store, and shoppers will frequently see Berry’s mother, sister and sister-in-law helping out. But as the owner, running the boutique means hard work and long hours. Open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Lil Dudes and Divas finds Berry there every day.
Her passion for the store drives its success. “I always knew the store would be successful,” Berry says, “I’ve put my heart and soul in this store.”
One of the most encouraging moments, Berry says, was “the first time I had a customer return to show me their diva in the outfit she had bought for her.”
The best part about being the owner of Lil Dudes and Divas, she says, “is that I get to share unique gifts and clothing with others who want only the most exquisite and distinctive gifts to give their little dude or diva.”
