As a new business, Edmond Outlook was the first publication I thought of using to advertise my store. I got immediate results. Most of my first customers visited my store because they saw the ad. I've continued to advertise each month, and will continue to do so.

Calm Waters is Seeking Volunteers

Written by Krystal Harlow on 08/02/2011

In May 2011 we published a story on Calm Waters - a free grief support center for children and families. Today, they are needing our help.

Calm Waters is immediately seeking qualified adults who are compassionate, have the ability to listen and enjoy working with children and adults to co-facilitate small support groups.

Calm Waters offers a safe and nurturing environment for children and families where grief can be addressed and true healing can begin. Volunteers are essential in providing this much needed service. The overall volunteer experience is not only meaningful and rewarding, but also provides an opportunity to join in the spirit of giving back to the community by your donation of time and support.  “It doesn’t take professional expertise to be a Calm Waters’ volunteer,” said Maribeth Govin, Calm Waters’ Program Director.  “Our wonderful volunteers come from all walks of life.  We have bankers, teachers, nurses and retirees.  Calm Waters has provided grief support groups in our community for almost twenty years due to our dedicated volunteers.”

Volunteer facilitator training will be conducted at the Calm Waters Center, 4334 NW Expressway, Suite 101 on August 19 (6 p.m.-9 p.m.) and August 20 (9 a.m.-1 p.m).

In order to become a volunteer, please visit www.calmwaters.org and submit your application by August 12.  For more information, please contact Maribeth at 405.841.4800.
